Obama to Skip Wounded Veterans Memorial

On October 5, 2014, a Sunday a new memorial honoring US veterans who have been wounded in wars fought is to be dedicated in Washington DC.  The memorial, called the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial, is the first of its kind to honor those disabled in wars soldiers have fought in an effort to bring attention to wounded soldiers.

Presidents have usually been present during such ceremonies.  however the organizers have been told that Obama will not be making an appearance to the event.

Its not an event that Obama should avoid.  With Veteran Affair problems, and benefits hounding the President he really cannot afford anymore bad press in dealing with the military.  But it also goes with how many democrats view the military, with disdain.

Of course the White House has declined to comment on if the President will change his mind and attend, but organizers had made the following comment.

“It’s disappointing that the president is unable to celebrate the dedication of this historic memorial with the heroes that it honors—our nation’s disabled veterans.”

One interesting note is the date the ceremony is to be on, October 5, which is a Sunday.  Sundays are a day Obama loves to golf.  So once again, golf is going to trump doing the right thing.

Obama has an image problem, blowing this memorial off is not going to help it.

  1. I hope the President has a valid excuse for not attending this very important event. Otherwise, it is an unconscionable snub of our warriors, who supported with their lives and health the very policies he and his predecessors implemented with the blood of these brave men and women. I further believe that any political leader who makes decisions regarding war and peace should have themselves served in the armed forces.
