Bill Maher On Who is to Blame in Gaza

Sometimes Bill Maher can make a lot of sense when he is thinking things logically.  Take for example the recent conflict in Gaza between hamas and Israel.  He feels bad for the children and civilians, as many do, who are wounded and killed but he then goes on to ask a serious question many do not wish to ask.

“Whose fault is that mostly?”

Its a very fair, and logical question which has been distorted by many.  Hamas uses the emotional impact of Israel killing women and children to influence many in the West, especially on the left.  But Maher does not seem swayed.

“I feel terrible for a Palestinian child who dies,” Maher said, “but if it’s your father, your brother, your uncle who’s firing those rockets into Israel, who’s fault is it really? Do you really expect the Israelis not to retaliate?”

Maher is doing something many on the left, and in the media, should do.  He looks at the cause of why Israel is doing what its doing.  Can any sane country really expect to ignore such a blatant attack on a sovereign country.  Of course there is part of the problem, many muslims do not consider Israel an independent country.

Maher continued on saying, “If the Hamas people had the opportunity, they would kill the maximum number of Israelis, which would be all [of them], and Israel has the opportunity to kill way more [Palestinians] and they do not.”

He understand what others do not.  Hamas wishes to destroy all Jews.  A good contrast is provided by Charles Krauthammer, who states that Israel uses missiles to protect its citizens, while hamas uses its citizens to protect its missiles.  It shows how little regard hamas has for human life, unless they can use it to manipulate others to their cause.
