Obama and Security Brifings

By now we’ve all heard from the President on how he was caught off guard by the rapid rise of the radical muslim group, ISIS.  He even went on to say on Sunday 60 Minutes about the situation:

“I think our head of the intelligence community, Jim Clapper, has acknowledged that I think they underestimated what had been taking place in Syria.”

According to many officials within the intelligence agency this has come as a tremendous shock to them.  “It’s pretty well-known that the president hasn’t taken in-person intelligence briefings with any regularity since the early days of 2009,” an Obama national security staffer told the Daily Mail on Monday. “He gets them in writing.”

What does this mean and is the President taking his briefings.  According to the Government Accountability Institute (GAI) Obama has been attending 42.1% of his meetings.

In fact, in a report from the group which lists his attendance by month, the numbers are even worse.  This year his number is 37.5%, the second lowest.  The lowest was 34.2% in 2012, his re-election year.

I doubt anyone is expecting 100% meeting attendance, but the fact he has been taken so off guard by world events, many times, makes people question what he is doing.

But what is not a surprise is the fact he has thrown the intelligence community under the bus for his own inability to understand, attend, and learn what is going on in the world.

“Either the president doesn’t read the intelligence he’s getting or he’s bullshitting,” a former senior Pentagon official said, and he has nailed the truth, something democrats do not wish to see.
