On October 5, 2014, a Sunday a new memorial honoring US veterans who have been wounded in wars fought is to be dedicated in Washington DC.\u00a0 The memorial, called the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial, is the first of its kind to honor those disabled in wars soldiers have fought in an effort to bring attention to wounded soldiers.<\/p>\n
Presidents have usually been present during such ceremonies.\u00a0 however the organizers have been told that Obama will not be making an appearance to the event.<\/p>\n
Its not an event that Obama should avoid.\u00a0 With Veteran Affair problems, and benefits hounding the President he really cannot afford anymore bad press in dealing with the military.\u00a0 But it also goes with how many democrats view the military, with disdain.<\/p>\n
Of course the White House has declined to comment on if the President will change his mind and attend, but organizers had made the following comment.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s disappointing that the president is unable to celebrate the dedication of this historic memorial with the heroes that it honors\u2014our nation\u2019s disabled veterans.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
One interesting note is the date the ceremony is to be on, October 5, which is a Sunday.\u00a0 Sundays are a day Obama loves to golf.\u00a0 So once again, golf is going to trump doing the right thing.<\/p>\n
