We’ve all read about it here and there, some media reporter makes a comment about an African-American that so-and-so is ‘not black enough’ for the black community.<\/p>\n
Say what? That’s the question so many others ask upon hearing such a question.<\/p>\n
This comment came out again while reading an article by Mike Freeman talking about Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson an other teammates.\u00a0 In the article Freeman states the following:<\/p>\n
“There is also an element of race that needs to be discussed. My feeling on this\u2014and it’s backed up by several interviews with Seahawks players\u2014is that some of the black players think Wilson isn’t black enough.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Its amazing that someone who is well spoken is a problem with other blacks.\u00a0 he is looked down upon for making himself appear well groomed as opposed to the barely understandable rappers who toss out lyrics about rape,killing and other things like drugs.<\/p>\n
This animosity between players in the Seahawks locker room, according to Freeman, is due in part to this attitude.<\/p>\n
Perhaps its time that blacks look towards people like Wilson, or Bill Cosby, or Ben Carson, people who made something of themselves.\u00a0 Instead it appears blacks do not want, as a society, to improve.\u00a0 Its that refusal to look at the positive which leads to tensions like we see in Ferguson.<\/p>\n
Until the black community changes what it considers to be a success, they are keeping themselves down.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
