President Obama went and visited the site of the first Atomic bomb drop, and only one of two dropped in anger,\u00a0Hiroshima.<\/p>\n
Personally I view it long since past for a US President to have made a visit to the site.\u00a0 It is a moment which links two countries unlike any two in the world.\u00a0 But we must also not forget why it was dropped, there was a war going on.<\/p>\n
Yes, countries make mistakes in war, they do things considered insane and terrible.<\/p>\n
But war is not for the sane.<\/p>\n
The bombing will be endlessly debated as right or wrong, did it save lives or not.\u00a0 The truth will never be known.<\/p>\n
I had one teacher back in seventh grade, history, who was a WW2 vet.\u00a0 He would say the bombs saved lives, like his.\u00a0 He was on the second attack wave to invade Japan and always felt he would have died in the invasion but the atomic bomb gave him a second chance at life.<\/p>\n
Yet it was up to a democrat President to finally visit the site.<\/p>\n
However, instead of focusing on the bond between our countries, his message was instead one that nuclear weapons need to be dismantled, especially the US stockpile.\u00a0 Never mind the fact that other countries are actively trying to produce a weapon, like Iran.<\/p>\n
A glorious moment and once more Obama failed.\u00a0 He made the following comment:<\/p>\n
\u201cAmong those nations like my own that hold nuclear stockpiles, we must have the courage to escape the logic of fear and pursue a world without them.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
But yet, he once more only targets his words at the US.\u00a0 He, as usual, fails to see what is going on around the world.<\/p>\n
His message was wrong, his timing was wrong.\u00a0 He could have been American, but once more chose not to be.\u00a0 In a time when radical muslims are gaining strength, unstable governments are perusing nuclear weapons, and renewed aggression by Russia, our leader only wishes to weaken one of the strengths of the USA.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
